This time of year, I go on a music binge. I catch up on stuff from the year prior, and poke through end-of-year “best of” lists that pop up on music blogs and magazines.
I know I’ve mentioned my new book a time or two. What I may not have mentioned is this: in the work I’ve done on this book and other projects the past few years, I’ve met some of the smartest, most interesting, most hardworking, funniest and badass people ever. These people rock. And yet gardening, this pastime we love, is still looked up upon by too many as though it’s as badass as Chinese checkers.
Dear badass gardeners: I wrote my book for you. Y’all know it’s time we owned this. With that in mind, I give you the Gardening Rocks 2012 Advent Calendar.
Every year in my binge, I run across songs offered up as free and legal downloads, often great—like you—often obscure—like gardening, as a tradition, still is to so many. Each day through Christmas, I’ll post one here for your listening and free/legal downloading pleasure. Comment on any of these posts by 11:59 p.m. EST on December 25, and during the following week, I’ll pick a random commenter to win a copy of my book, Why Grow That When You Can Grow This?.
Without further adieu, I’m kicking things off with the amazing Amanda Palmer. From her Soundcloud profile, this is “Want It Back”, my favorite song off her new Kickstarter phenom album. You can listen, and download by clicking the little down arrow, OR you can pay what you want for THE ENTIRE ALBUM on her site.
Cheers to YOU, my friends, this holiday season, and more tomorrow!
